Don and Karen Thom have been local business owners in Surat for over 21 years. After decades of living and working in the community, they recognised the need for modern, self contained accommodation that suited both travelling workers and those passing through the region.
Surat Studios was established in early 2026 to provide a fresh and practical place to stay, designed with comfort and simplicity in mind.

Enjoy hearty meals at the local New Royal Hotel and bistro, great coffee at Timber Crate, and convenient shopping at two well stocked stores. Everything you need is within easy reach.
RIVER & WALKING
The Balonne River is the heart of town. Follow the fully paved 3km river walk to the weir and footbridge, stroll through Lions Park, and take in the history and photo spots along the way. Early mornings and sunset are a must.

Surat offers all the essentials: Post Office, chemist, grocery & food shops, service station, hardware, tyre service, laundromat, hairdressing and library with visitor information. The town also has a hospital, aged care, police, ambulance, childcare/kindy, prep through to Year 10 schooling, parks, pool and a skate park.
